General

ASMEC offers devices in different sizes, which are more or less modular:

For all devices (except for the SEM Indenter) there are three measuring heads to choose from, which can be easily replaced by the user:

The measuring heads are particularly wide compared to other nanoindenters, as they have the highest lateral stiffness of all devices on the market. The shaft with the tip bends only a few nanometers under lateral load compared to several micrometers in other devices. This goes hand in hand with the greatest robustness of all nanoindenter measuring heads. This means that they are always suitable for scratch and wear tests in addition to hardness measurement and are very user-friendly to handle. This makes them particularly interesting for industrial applications.
All measuring heads have a piezoelectric actuator and two sensors without stop, making them robust against overloading.

NEW Since the end of 2025, the devices have been delivered with new electronics with the following features:

  • The AD converter has a sampling rate of 312.5 kHz and an effective bit width of 32 bits.

  • The DAC has a sampling rate of 156 kHz and a bit width of 24 bits.

  • There is automatic measuring head detection

  • Temperature and humidity measurement is integrated into the measuring heads

With the new electronics, the measuring heads have the following features
